There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope at your calling—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.
—Ephesians 4:4–6
The reality of the gospel dictates the existence of a gospel people. The good news of Jesus’s death and resurrection is that of a new life, empowered by the Holy Spirit, as a new community in covenant with God.
In this five-week follow-up to This Is the Gospel, we will look at what it means to be the Church and live in response to the good news as a gospel community. In this study, we’ll take a look not at specific denominational structures or practices, but at the broader conversation in Scripture about the nature, purpose, mission, and function of this unique and diverse body of believers united in Christ.
