“You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be mine.”
—Leviticus 20:26
"Be holy because I am holy...” This refrain echoes throughout Leviticus as God instructs Israel on how to live out their faith against the backdrop of their current culture. This third book of the Bible is about so much more than ancient rituals and rules. It highlights the goodness of a holy and perfect God who established a way to dwell among His people, in spite of their sin.
In this three-week reading plan, we’ll read what life in the presence of God looked like for the covenant community of Israel. We’ll discover the theological value of Leviticus, identifying the timeless truth of God’s Word revealed during a particular period of history. We’ll come face to face with the grim reality of sin and our need for reconciliation. And we’ll gain a deeper appreciation for God’s redemptive plan, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, our perfect sacrifice.
