James Men's Reading Guide
Life in a broken world means trials of many kinds. Yet James reminds us that these realities actually have the ability to strengthen our faith and propel us forward in our walk with Jesus. Part of the paradoxical reality of living in the kingdom of God is that joy can come when we endure suffering by God’s strength. So James encourages the believer who might be tempted to give way to the persecutors or cling too tightly to the things of this world that God has something far deeper in mind for a life of faith. Undivided, unwavering devotion to God means relinquishing that which the world holds dear. It means moving our faith out of the realm of just theory or knowledge and putting into practice all that we say we believe.
In this three-week study of James, we will be reminded that true wisdom and true religion are a result of clinging wholly to the person of Jesus in our actions, hearts, and minds.
