Bless the Lord: Reading the Psalms for Lent
The book of Psalms is a curated assortment of poems, prayers, and songs that show us how we can interact with God no matter the situation, emotion, and experience. As a collection, the psalms call us to worship God in response to whatever life may bring. Even in their most anxious, grievous, or agonizing moments, the psalms awaken our hope of finding true, everlasting peace in the Lord.
As we read the book of Psalms for Lent, it will stir in us praise for the God who gave Himself to be our redemption. The psalms will help us remember Christ's suffering, connecting us to Him in grief and worship and looking to Him as our strength and the object of our adoration. And as these songs show us how to face the darkness of the world and our own sin, we respond by giving Jesus, our Savior, all glory and honor for His wondrous work.
